I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) with a wealth of experience treating individuals and couples. I earned both my Master of Social Work degree and my Post Master of Social Work Certificate from New York University (NYU). I also have a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology and Applied Psychology from the University of California, Santa Barbara (UCSB). I started providing therapy in 2007, working with survivors of sexual assault at the Santa Barbara Rape Crisis Center. I have since worked locally and internationally in mental health agencies, inpatient facilities, clinics, schools, and private practice. I am a proud Returned Peace Corps Volunteer (RPCV) having served more than 2 years in Rwanda working with survivors of trauma. I am very passionate about helping people discover who they are and improve their daily life. I feel a strong dedication to being as effective as possible, and continually complete trainings in therapeutic techniques.
As the daughter of an immigrant, I grew up in a bilingual, bicultural household and have spent a significant amount of time in my life abroad. I discovered from an early age the beauty and diversity of different cultures, and how there is more than one “right” way to live your life. Many of my family members live abroad in France, Holland, India, Canada, and Mexico. My background informs my practice as I keep an open mind when working with you. I utilize a range of techniques including Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing (EMDR), psychodynamic, cognitive-behavioral, trauma focused, solution focused, and mindfulness depending on your individual needs.
I also have an early background in theater and ballet, both as a performer and teacher. I’m a huge fan of foreign and independent film festivals, and love discovering new music. When I’m not providing therapy I enjoy reading graphic novels, going on nature walks, and cooking.
